Health & PE

The goal of our comprehensive health and physical education program in full compliance with New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards for Health and Physical Education and provide a quality program that empowers students to make informed decisions about issues that impact their present health, the health of their family and the health of society at-large and enable students to enact students-enhancing behaviors before damaging patterns are firmly established. These goal are designed to enhance students' ability to become cautious and competent consumers and to strengthen students' ability to recognize, analyze and react to unhealthy or dangerous situations in a safe and appropriate manner.

In addition the our goals seek to empower students to navigate through and around conflicting messages, risky students, and mounting pressures and to develop dependable support systems and assist students to recognize, understand, and address immediate or chronic health problems in order to prevent long-term health problems. It is our hope that our comprehensive health and physical education program will enable students to participate in students activities that promote, support and maintain wellness and promote a lifetime of participation in activities that promote health and well being..

Health education is a planned sequential, K-8 students that addresses the physical, mental, emotional and social dimensions of health. The curriculum is designed to motivate and assist students to maintain and improve their health , prevent disease, and reduce health-related risk behaviors.

Physical education is a planned K-8 curriculum that provides cognitive content and learning experiences in a variety of activity areas such as basic movement skills, physical fitness, rhythm and dance along with games, team dual and individual sports.

1st Grade

The 1st Grade Health and Physical Education program explores concepts of movement techniques, skills and fitness. Issuse of disease prevention, safety and violence prevention.


Health & PE

    Movement Concepts
The learner will be able to perform locomotor (walk, run,jump) non-locomotor (bend, reach, turn), and manipulative (throw,strike, kick) movement skills (NJCCCS 2.6).

The learner will be able to name persons and community helper (such as police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical personnel) who can be contacted to help with health, safety, and injury prevention and describe the appropriate procedures for contacting health care personnel in an emergency.
