Technology Literacy
The goal of our computer literacy program is to provide a quality program that is in full compliance with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in technology literacy. In a manner that is developmentally appropriate, students will learn to use computer applications to manipulate and communicate information.
Kindergarten
In Kindergarten, students begin to learn and work together utilizing the the computer as a learning tool. developing computer awareness, computer skills and software usage.
Through a designated scope and sequence and in conjunction with content area curriculum, students incrementally develop skills and competence beginning in kindergarten and progressing to grade 8 in computer literacy.
Over the K-8 exposure students will: -demonstrate skill in using a computer and Local Area Network (LAN) - use a word processor as a writing and publishing tool. - participate in curriculum based projects that use a spreadsheet to analyze manipulate, and predict data. - participate in curriculum based projects that use a database to access, manipulate, and utilize information including information found on the World Wide Web. - participate in curriculum based projects that use a multimediapresentation program to manipulate and present information to large audiences. - participate in curriculum based projects that use telecommunications including distance learning, the Internet, and the World Wide Web, to interact with other students and connect with outside resources to research retrieve, and share ideas and information.
