- Review of Foundation Grants. The committee was shown the letters
sent from the Education Foundation describing their most recent grants. Included were a percussion assembly for
Dickerson, a program about space for 5th graders, which will
culminate in a day-long space camp field trip, chemistry probes to be used
in eighth grade science, and Adobe Photo Shop software and licenses for BRMS.
- Review of Anti-Bullying materials. The state has mandated schools have
policy in place regarding bullying by 9/1/03. The board will get a packet of materials for guidelines to
start to create the appropriate policy.
- Review of facilities plan. Discussed impact on curriculum of
moving 6th grade to Bragg facility. Discussed information needed and ways to educate the town
about potential building projects.
- Policy review. Lesson plans, 6143.1. Made some adjustments to make
definition of lesson plans more open ended. Also distinguished between regular lesson plans and plans
left for substitutes both for planned absences and emergencies. Technology, 6142.10,11. The current policy and the recommended
NJSBA policies will be merged.
- Other. A request was made for information about summer reading
requirements.
