Present: Janet Hoven, Russ Nordmark, Rob Agree, Michael Roth, and Erica Taterka
The Summer Institute for the Gifted would like to use Chester facilities for 2 five-week sessions for 3rd and 4th graders this winter. Mr. Roth is trying to make an arrangement for them to donate some slots for Chester children.
We have been approached about creating a sister school type relationship with a Middle school in Japan. This continues to be examined.
Mr. Agree introduced an idea for a writing program, which he experienced in another district. Mr. Roth will look into it.
Policy
6142 Subject Fields: Prior to the second reading, the committee decided to change the wording “living in a democracy” to “productive citizenship.”
6154 Homework/Makeup work: After getting feedback from the schools, a new version of this policy was examined. There was discussion regarding major homework assignments, daily homework and its assignment on weekends, and the need for further input for the guidelines for the amount of time for individual grades.
5505 Bullying. The committee was given several models of this policy to be discussed at a later meeting.
Respectfully Submitted,
Erica Taterka
