Curriculum Committee

July 13, 2004

Present: Debbie Campolo, Jennifer Cooper-Napolitano, Erica Taterka, Michael Roth

  1. Articulation:  Mr. Roth reported that he is continuing to be in contact with the Mendham school districts and the high school in order for all the districts to work together for the students.
  2. Gifted and Talented:  the district has been seeking a teacher to oversee and model gifted and talented programs but no suitable candidate has been found.  Dr. Boyland’s study of our district made suggestions regarding expanding and enhancing the program, which are being considered.  (The district already meets state standards for gifted and talented with its current programs.)
  3. Videos in school.  The committee will develop goals of what videos for school should include.
  4. Policy:  The committee reviewed 5131.6-1 Substance Abuse and made some minor changes in paragraphs I and J.  In addition, Erica Taterka will review the policies regarding curriculum to determine those that still need to be reviewed per NJSBA and the committee will decide if there are additional policies that need to be reviewed or new policies that need to be created (i.e. video tape policy)
  5. School supplies.  Suggested lists of supplies will be given to the students.  The committee suggested that the lists be sent out with the teacher assignments.
