Topics Discussed

 

  1. General discussion regarding the new legislation enacted a week earlier.  Analysis had been completed as to the effect that the budget CAP would have on the district in addition to SGLA changes.  Also discussed account transfer changes and the requirement that the county superintendent review all transfers.
  2. Ralph prepared a report showing special education account costs since 99-00.  Local share for special ed in 99-00 was $826,989 for 146 students.  Last school year the district spent $1,419,844 for 173 students.  The number of students served has increased by at least ten every year for the past 4 years.  Currently, per pupil costs exceeds the district average per pupil cost by $8200.  Discussion as to ways we could effectively manage our costs, while providing the same level of services.
  3. Summer school costs were discussed.  More staff was hired than budgeted, however out-of-district tuition should cover the excess.
