Chester School District

Excellence in Education

  • Future Ready NJ

On Tuesday, September 18th, Future Ready Schools NJ (FRS-NJ) notified the Chester School District that all 3 of our schools earned Bronze level certification under the Future Ready Schools NJ (FRS-NJ) Certification Program. FRS-NJ, a coalition of the NJSBA, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and the New Jersey Department of Education, is designed to best prepare our students for success in the digital age by promoting skills, abilities, and capacities essential for success in college, career, and citizenship. Additionally, The FRS-NJ program enables and fosters collaboration both within and between schools and districts throughout the State of New Jersey. FRSNJ is based on the national Future Ready Framework, developed by the Alliance for Excellent Education.

This is an enormous achievement, and is a direct result of our talented staff who particpated in the 8 month process. Attaining Bronze level status is the first step of many, as we look towards achieving silver and gold in the future. Stakeholders representing Black River Middle School, Bragg Elementary School, and Dickerson Elementary School should be very proud of this unique accomplishment. The Chester School District will be recognized at the New Jersey School Boards Conference in Atlantic City, NJ in October.

During the 2018-2019 school year, students in grades 3-8 will participate in an online assessment called The Partnership for Assessment for Readiness of College and Careers (PARCC).  Click here to access the schedule. PARCC is designed to determine a student’s readiness for college and career. It will help parents and teachers to determine whether or not students have achieved grade level standards. In addition to PARCC, students in grades 5 and 8 will participate in the NJSLA science assessment. Visit our district’s standardized assessment webpage by clicking here to access helpful resources.
