What is a School Budget?
- Reflects the district's educational priorities
- Provides accountability to the taxpaying community
- Provides guidance on spending priorities throughout the year
- Satisfies all state mandates
On January 17, 2012, Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation that permits communities to move the annual school board member election to November, while eliminating the vote on a district's proposed budget that is at or below the 2% tax levy cap.
The Chester Board of Education passed a resolution to eliminate the vote with the commitment to keep the tax levy under the cap.
