    Dear Second Grader,

Hello and welcome to second grade!  I am very excited about being your teacher this year!  I hope that you are having a wonderful summer and are now getting ready to start school.  You are going to LOVE second grade. We are going to make EVERY day an adventure and you are going to learn about so many fabulous things!

Dickerson School is having a "Meet Your Teacher" day on Thursday, August 31st at 2:30pm.  Please come and visit me if you can!  You can see our classroom (Room 102), find your desk and meet some of your new classmates!  (You can also bring in some of your school supplies to put in your desk that day if you would like to do that, rather than bringing them all in on the first day of school.)

I have some very IMPORTANT INFORMATION for you!  If you come to the "Meet Your Teacher" day, I will give you a name tag to wear on the FIRST day of school.  If you cannot come, please just ask a grown up for one from home.  The name tag should have your name, my name and your bus # on it.  If you are not taking the bus, the tag should say "pick-up."  Any students that will be picked up from school should also bring a dismissal note to school.  Please don't forget!  I want to make sure everyone gets home safely!

On our first day of school, your backpack should contain your school supplies, a leak-proof water bottle that is easy to use, a small snack in a separate snack bag, and your lunch.  Please make sure that your NAME is on your backpack, snack bag and lunch box.

If your parents have any questions for me, my school e-mail address is christine.donlon@chester-nj.org.  I check it often and will get back to them as quickly as I can.

The most important thing that I need you to bring to school with you every day is a BIG SMILE!  I will always have one for you too! I cannot wait to meet you!  We are going to have a GREAT year!

    See you soon!
