• Dear First Grader,

I hope that you had a terrific summer!  I also hope you are excited about beginning First Grade.  We'll have so much fun and learn many wonderful things together.  I can't wait to begin!

On FRIDAY, August 23, anytime between 2:30-3:30 you are invited to come and see your classroom, Room 215, and meet me!  If you can't come that day, I look forward to meeting you on the first day of school, Aug. 26.

On my website you will find my list of First Grade School Supplies. This list may be a little different than the general list on the main district website. I prefer that you bring them with you on the Open House day, but you can bring them on the first day of school if you like. If you ordered supplies through the PTO, they will be waiting in the classroom for you.

On the first day of school, Aug. 26, there will be teachers and helpers waiting for you when you get off the bus or if you are dropped off.  If you need help finding our classroom, they can help you. I'll be at the classroom door, waiting for you.

Inside your backpack on the first day of school, you will have any remaining school supplies, your lunchbox (if you are bringing lunch), and your healthy snack in a reuseable bag SEPARATE from your lunch.  Every day we'll have ONE quick snack time (10 min.) in the morning.  This is different from Kindergarten where you had two snacks. If you are buying lunch you either will have a lunch account all set up (first graders can buy beginning the first day of school) or will have lunch money in an envelope.

Wear a smile on your face the first day of school!  I will have a smile on my face when I see you!

                                                                                    Love, Mrs. McAvinn

                                                                                     (sounds almost like McGavin)
