Students' eligibility for the Advanced Readers program is determined based on their beginning-of-year scores on the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) test.
About the Program
The Advanced Readers program consists of weekly pull-out small group instruction. Students are expected to read an assigned section of a book each week, which is then discussed at the following week's meeting. Advanced Readers focuses on literary elements such as characterization, theme, use of language, author's purpose, etc.
During hybrid instruction, the Advanced Readers group is an online discussion forum format rather than live classes.
