    Welcome to Mrs. Azzara's Website!

I am the school counselor for Cohart A (students with last names that begin with letters A-K).  As a school counselor at Black River Middle School, I assist students through their exciting, yet challenging middle school years.  I work to create a warm and positive environment for the students where self-confidence, independence, and a sense of community are fostered.  Whether students are meeting academic, social, and/or emotional challenges, I am here as a resource and a guide for students.

What are some of the school counseling services offered to students?

Individual counseling - Meeting individually with the students in a non-threatening, warm, and supportive manner.

Group counseling -  New Student Groups, Organization / Study Skills Group

Friendship Groups / Lunch Bunches - Bringing students together for fun and games.

Conflict resolution - Bringing students together to resolve conflicts and challenges in their relationships to foster connection, positive communication and to focus on solutions.

Regular Education Accommodation Plans - I am the Section 504 and Intervention & Referal Services (I&RS) coordinator for Cohort A.

The counselors at BRMS are also involved in coordinating school-wide activities such as Suicide Prevention, Week of Respect, Red Ribbon Week, Career Day, Middle & High School Transition, National Honor Society, NJSLA State Testing,  Peer to Peer Tutoring, Peer Leadership Program, as well as parent education programs.

Black River Middle School is an amazing place to be.  As a school community, we work to maintain a positive school culture where students and all members of our school community feel safe, accepted and respected.
