Dear Parents and/or Guardians, 

 Hello and welcome to the 2021-22 school year!  My name is Sarah Skrabal and I am the speech-language pathologist who will be working with your child this year.  I will be providing speech services at Dickerson Elementary School and Black River Middle School.  

This is my third year at Chester School District.  I received my master’s degree from Kean University in Speech-Language Pathology and my undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Communication Science and Disorders.  Prior to coming to Chester, I worked for two years at a private school for children with special needs.  I am currently certified as a Speech-Language Specialist by the New Jersey State Department of Education, licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of New Jersey, and hold a Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. 

Your child will receive a speech notebook along with their speech schedule.  During the school year, I will send home various activities for your child to complete with you in order to practice good speech and language skills at home.  I will also be sending home helpful resources and activities to facilitate speech and language development at home.

These weekly assignments will reflect the skills we are working on in speech therapy.  Please monitor your child as they practice and complete their assignments.  Additionally, please initial any worksheets or notes in the folder which will let me know that you read the note and/or heard your child practice their assignments.  The speech notebook should then be sent in with your child on the day they attend speech.  Clear face masks are available upon request during speech and language therapy sessions.
