Health Guidelines

From Your School Nurse

Providing a healthy and safe environment for your child is the primary goal of the school nurse. This cannot be done without the help of the parents. The following guidelines must be used when determining if your child should be kept home from school or preschool. 

  1. Common Cold: Your child may return to school when the severity of the symptoms subsides and the temperature has been below 100°F for 24 hours
  2. Ear Infections: Your child may return when pain-free and the temperature is below 100°F for 24 hours
  3. Fever: Your child may return after being on medication for 24 hours
  4. Pink Eye: Your child may return after being on medication for 24 hours
  5. Pneumonia/Bronchitis: Consult your physician
  6. Strep Throat: State Law states that strep is not contagious after 24 hours on appropriate medication. We suggest you keep your child home for 48 hours as a matter of good health practice. Always replace your child's toothbrush after a strep infection 
  7. Vomiting/Diarrhea/Flu: Your child may return after there has been no vomiting or diarrhea and temperature is below 100°F for 24 hours

We must account for your child. If we cannot obtain information regarding your child's absence, a home visit may be necessary.

DE LA ENFERMERA DE SU ESCUELA

Proporcionar un ambiente sano y seguro para sus hijos es el objetivo primordial de la enfermera de la escuela. Esto no puede hacerse sin la ayuda de los padres. La siguiente guía debe ser utilizada para determinar si su hijo/a debe mandarse a casa, desde la escuela o preescolar.

  1. Resfriado Común: Su hijo/a puede regresar a la escuela cuando la gravedad de los síntomas desaparece y la temperatura ha sido menos que 100°F durante 24 horas.
  2. Infecciones del oído: Su niño puede regresa a la escuela, cuando el dolor y la temperatura es menos que 100°F durante 24 horas.
  3. Fiebre: Su niño/a puede regresar a la escuela cuando la temperatura a menos que 100°F durante 24 horas.
  4. Conjuntivitis (Pink Eye): Su niño/a puede regresar a la escuela después de estar en la medicación durante 24 horas.
  5. La neumonía / bronquitis: Consulte a su médico.
  6. La faringitis estreptocócica- Ley Estatal establece que el estreptococo no es contagioso después de 24 horas en la medicación apropiada. Le sugerimos que mantenga a su hijo/a en casa durante 48 horas como una cuestión de práctica de salud . Siempre reemplace el cepillo de dientes de su hijo/a después de una infección por estreptococos.
  7. Vómitos / dioarrea / Catarro: Su niño/a puede regresar a la escuela después de no haber vomitado o no hatenido diarrea y es libre de fiebre por 24 horas.

Debemos dar cuenta de su hijo/a. Si no podemos obtener información con respecto a la ausencia de su hijo/a, puede ser necesaria una visita al hogar. Gracias
